Reclaiming Yourself with Medical Wigs

Me and my family couldn’t believe the incredible Caroline Upton, our family friend, could own and wear wigs. Her signature hair styles added so much to her femininity. But surprise surprise. Our favorite gal continues to be known for her attitude. Only a handful of souls realize she lives confidently wearing lace front wigs. Keep it on the DL.

When we were kids growing up in our home town of Scottsdale, we once swept all the beauty pageants. Five years later, her alopecia kicked in and her hair wouldn’t be the same. I suggested a few lace front wigs. But you know, balding was no big deal to her. The incredible woman proudly unveiled her shaved head.

Attending our alma mater’s baseball championship, we taunted the players till a numbskull accidentally threw the sphere (or that thing they use) at us. Quick on her feet, she tried to get it and her cute little hat fell off, unveiling her naked head. Totally upreturbed, she lobbed it playfully into the goal. That’s so her!

However, everyone has insecurities. Once at our semi-monhtly cookie baking marathon, the day she very sincerely revealed that she prefers to make do with a shorn head as a statement. She missed her natural hair too much to spend money on human hair wigs, even if she wanted one. Then just like that our fearless protagonist turned flush red and begged that I can’t mention it again. So I did.

I couldn’t drop it. That night, I asked her about settling the wig issue. Eventually we arrived at the obvious conclusion: we were going wig shopping! So I’m getting one too!

We had a ball wig shopping, floored by the wide selection of hair colors, textures and styles. I couldn’t believe that wigs are vital to fashion for a lot of people. These wigs brought out her youthful spirit. I arranged a delightfully contemporary ensemble to wear with my wig. We’re inseparable, and that will surely endure. Recently she gave me a photo of us in our wigs and thanked me for reintroducing, and disclosed that it encourages new vibrance that she’d forgotten. It’s touching to witness her rediscover the sassy, feminine girl I remember. We both are.
